쇼트트랙 여자 3000미터 계주를 라이브로 보면서 한국팀의 실격에 대해 도저히 분노를 참을 수 없었는데요. 비단 한국 사람들뿐 아니라 비교적 객관적인 시각으로 보는 외국 네티즌들의 눈에도 이번 판정은 이해하기 어려웠나 봅니다. 대부분 한국 팀의 실격을 이해할 수 없다는 반응이 주류를 이루었고 가끔 미국도 실력으로 딴 것이 아니니 동메달을 반납하라는 의견도 보이네요.. ;;

Objectively speaking, this was a horrible DQ. Just not right. I feel terrible for those girls who probably have trained so hard for this event.

This is a joke. If anything, Korea should have been rewarded the silver as Canada and certainly the US had no shot of winning at the time. Just horrible.

This is a JOKE. So I guess what Korea needed to do was to make a sudden stop to avoid the Chinese skater coming in?
I was watching it on a Canadian channel, and the commentator mentioned the call was wishy-washy, and if there's a DQ, it should have been on the Chinese who stepped in.
Sorry for the girls who must have trained so hard for this event. What a way to rob them of medal! Can someone DQ the judge please?

Uberm, I was happy that US got bronze for a second...
Then I realized we got that medal due to some horrendous call by a ref and we really don't deserve it.
You train so hard for 4 yrs and ref takes your gut out with that....
IOC should be ashamed of this one.

Good? I guess you don't care about having properly judged competition. At all levels, you should want to win by your own merit, not by having the judges make a horrible call. That's part of being a true competitor.

It looks like the Korean got DQed for pushing the Chinese away when she got close, causing the Chinese to lose speed. It seemed pretty ticky-tack, but I guess that's the rule. I don't see how the judge is racist though. He hates Koreans and likes Chinese?

uh.. i watched all the short track races and (it hurts me to say this) ohno actually shouldve been disqualified in the semi's of 1000m(couldve been 1500m) where he was pushing another skater. i really thought he was get DQed when the refrees were discussing it. and he did it again in the finals.
ohno really needs to keep his mouth shut. several of his medals were earned by luck and bad judgements by the refrees, and thats why his 7 medals should not be compared to blair's 6 medals.
now, about that incident 8 years ago... i have no comment.
anyway, go USA! we're dominating! again!

Korea got robbed and the U.S should NOT receive the bronze. They should only give out the Gold and Silver. When they started skating around with the American flag I felt slightly embarrassed because they definitely didn't earn a medal.

Trained for 4 hard years, and this is what they get? An absolutely stupid call and all of that training goes away...

The Koreans skaters cheat too much. Actually Lee Jung-Su should have been D/Q in the 1,500 and Ohno should of won the Gold for the USA, Celski the Silver for USA, and Jean the bronze for Canada. The Koreans got away with cheating in the 1,500 but not this time.

This referee is very notorious for DQing Koreans and giving the gold to either USA or Chinese. This has happened 6 or 7 times before. One famous one being the one in 02 Olympic, to Ohno.
IOC should seriously look into it. This cant be coincidence.
Look at his wealth, his spending and salary that he gets. He probably spent a lot more than he could afford.

The Koreans got robbed. A slight touch in the chest did not cause the Chinese racer to ver slightly outside and lose speed. The Korean and Chinese racer bumped skates...fortuantely for the Korean racer she had already started her turn on her left skate... the right skate bumped with the Chinese racer left skate and she lost her speed. Samething happened to Ono this year, but there was not even a moment discussion about an disqualification. The Ref/Judge got it wrong! BIG TIME! I hope the IOC steps in and corrects this, but I highly doubt it. Did anyone see the Chinese Racer with the big cut under her chin

I just saw the broadcast replay, the DQ just doesn't jibe with me. KOR had inner lane and was in lead position, CHN had already lost position, the person who has lead position has right of way.

It was a little close, but it was the correct call in this case. The Korean skater was in the act of passing and although she had just gotten slightly ahead, she had not fully established herself when the contact occurred. In the sport, you must fully complete the pass & establish position or you are at fault.
-> 우열을 가리긴 힘들었지만 이번 판정은 옳았다고 생각해. 한국 선수가 살짝 앞에 있긴 했지만 추월을 하려는 상황에서 접촉이 일어났을 때 자기 위치를 확고히 하지 않았어. 스포츠에서는 항상 추월과 자리매김을 확실하게 해야 한다고. 안 그러면 파울인 거고.

You, obviously, don't understand the rules AND didn't watch the race. The Korean had established position by being already in FRONT and the Korean did NOT initiate contact. It was the CHINESE that STEPPED on the Korean. Get your facts straight.

I, too, felt the Koreans were cheated. But keep in mind I am not familiar with rules. Through various slow motion plays from different angle, it is clear that the Korean skater was in front and was leaning hard on a curve. It was the Chinese that followed too close and stepped on her skate, thus causing her to loose balance and speed in order to recover. The Korean player's action was not intentional (she was in front and would not have known the exact position of the Chinese skater). In that aspect, I felt it ought to be ruled as incidental.
That Korean coach was initially calm but later furious: pounding the ring side with both fists. I would too if I were him and had watched the slow motion replay.
BTW: I watched the whole thing here in the Red China via CCTV HD. The commentator was excitingly pointing out the "clear fault" during replay. IMO, Koreans got screwed by the Olympian judges.

그 한국인 코치도 처음엔 조용했지만 나중엔 몹시 화가 나 보였어. 양쪽 주먹으로 링 사이드를 두들기더군. 내가 그의 입장에서 슬로우모션 비디오를 감상했다면 나 역시 똑같이 행동했을 거야.
그나저나 이번 경기를 중국에서 CCTV HD를 통해 봤는데 해설자도 다시 보기 중에 흥분하면서 (한국 쪽의) 명백한 잘못이라고 지적하더군. 내 생각에 한국은 올림픽 심판한테 엿 먹은 거야.

Watched NBC replay. I think Kim already passed Chinease when it happened and there is no actual contact. News caster mentioned too. Chinease appealed it with some (wrong) hope and unfortuantely, the judges made wrong decision. They might need more videos with different angles like NBC has. I bet it was a wrong decision.
-> NBC 다시 보기를 봤는데 사건이 발생했을 때 김민정은 이미 중국 선수를 앞서 있었고 실제적인 충돌은 없었던 것 같아. 뉴스 캐스터도 그렇게 언급했었고. 중국이 약간의 기대심리를 가지고 어필한 것을 불행하게도 심판이 잘못된 결정을 내려버린 거야. NBC처럼 다양한 각도에서 볼 수 있는 비디오가 더 많이 필요했을지도. 아무튼 잘못된 판정이라는데 한 표.

Has anyone considered the common denominator here? Korea, if this has happened to you now twice in the last 3 olympics, then maybe you should change the way you skate. It's no secret the Koreans are fond of jostling for position, and that's fine, but a risk you run with that particular strategy is disqualification.

The ONLY person that should be DQ'ed here is the judge. Who gave the dude the right to DQ players for no apparent foul, who worked so hard for so many years for this event. Just is NOT right, whether you're Chinese, American, Korean, or Canadian.

I gotta say I'm a fan of short track skating and watched the world championships too. But that call was bogus. It's unfortunate they don't have the camera replay angles that we have but the call can't be changed now. Good for the US, but feel bad for Korea after that unwarranted call. The judge/ref clearly made the wrong call. Hoping for a US/Canada Hockey showdown.
